The Fusion is available with a range of engine and transmission options. Whichever you choose, you will be able to enjoy the assured handling of a small car combined with the performance of a far larger one. You can choose from a comprehensive range of engine sizes and transmissions, to suit your requirements – whether for frequent cruises down the motorway, regular stop/start city driving or a mixture of both.

Petrol engines 

If you prefer petrol, you can choose between two light alloy, Duratec 16V engines. With either the 80 PS 1.4-litre with 124 Nm of torque, or the 100 PS 1.6-litre with 146 Nm of torque, the Fusion can effortlessly deliver the power, whenever you need it.  

Diesel engines

Choose from the 1.4-litre TDCi Duratorq which produces 68 PS or the 16 valve, 1.6-litre TDCi Duratorq engine which delivers an impressive 90 PS. Both have light alloy cylinder and have been redesigned to give you improved responsiveness, economy and emissions.

Transmissions

The Fusion’s diesel engines have manual transmission, while both the 1.4-litre Duratec petrol engine and 1.6-litre petrol engine have a manual 5-gear transmission as well as hill climb and descent sensing. The 1.6-litre Duratec petrol engine also comes with automatic transmission, while the 1.4-litre Duratec also comes with the Durashift EST (Electronic Shift Transmission).

This has a floor-mounted gearshift, hydraulic computer-automated clutch, and no clutch pedal – in ‘sequential manual’ mode there’s tip-up/tip-down gear changing, and in ‘automated’ mode it has a kickdown function. So you can instantly change down to a lower gear by putting your foot hard on the accelerator, a feature you’ll undoubtedly appreciate when you need some extra thrust for overtaking.

Interior 

The Fusion combines comfort and style, with incredible practicality. It can carry five adults with ease, yet when the seats are fully folded, there’s enough space to satisfy the most ardent sportsperson, or DIY enthusiast. 

Driving technologies in the Fusion continue the theme of ‘a small car with a big car feel’.  

Quickclear heated windscreen

The Fusion’s heated front windscreen with heated washer jets is perfect for those frosty mornings when you need to get moving quickly. Another convenient touch we’re sure you will appreciate.

Park Assist

The compact size, combined with optional rear sensors make parking and manoeuvring both safer and easier. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your car and any obstacle behind you. Which means that in the tightest of spaces you’ll have complete peace of mind – no matter how many distractions there are. After all, you wouldn’t want your beautiful new car scratched, would you?

Power-fold mirrors

Fusion's stature gives the impression of a larger car, but you’ll be surprised at the spaces it will fit into. Its electric power-fold mirrors turn flat against the doors, so you can negotiate narrow gaps, or leave your car parked on the road without worrying about the mirrors being damaged.

Rain-sensing wipers and auto-headlights

Rain-sensing wipers can be fitted that offer six levels of sensitivity, springing into action automatically at the first drop of rain and increasing in speed to deal with whatever the weather can come up with. Aside from the added convenience, it’s one less thing to have to think about. This option also comes with lighting technology designed to make night-time driving easier, safer and more comfortable. Auto-headlights turn on when the sensors detect a reduction in light conditions, which means you won’t need to turn them on at dusk, at night or when going through a tunnel.

Portable music connection socket

You can connect your own MP3 player so you can plug in and play all your favourite tracks. Please note that an MP3 player or leads are not included.

Entertainment and information systems

Four hi-fi-quality speakers mean that the DIN-sized audio equipment produces stunning acoustics in the deceptively large cabin. The optional Sony CD player with security ‘Keycode’ has remote audio controls on the steering column. So, while your ears enjoy endless first-class entertainment, your eyes will never have to leave the road in order for you to adjust your sound system.

There’s also an optional ‘TravelPilot’ navigation system, which incorporates a radio and CD player. This finds the easiest and quickest route for your journey, then gives you simple voice and visual guidance – so you should only get lost in the music.  

Bluetooth® with Voice Control*

Using Bluetooth with Voice Control technology means you can adjust various pieces of equipment without taking your eyes from the road, or your hands from the wheel. For instance, you can safely make and receive calls on your mobile phone, change the radio station, CD track and even adjust the temperature or fan settings – just by using voice commands.

Airbags and crumple zones

The Fusion incorporates a tough, steel safety cage, plus side impact door beams for extra rigidity. In addition, the car features innovative sensors that activate the appropriate safety systems in a split second, such as the full-size airbags for both the driver and the front passenger, along with side impact airbags.  Each seat is also fitted with an anti-submarining ramp to prevent you from sliding under the seat belt in case of impact. With all of this technology, you can be confident that you and your family are travelling in one safe car.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)

ABS stops the brakes from locking the wheels, which helps prevent skidding if you have to brake when cornering, or need to make an emergency stop. Meanwhile, for stable braking and shorter stopping distances, EBD balances the braking force independently across all four wheels.

Lighting

Headlamp Courtesy Delay means the beams stay on for a short while to provide illumination and extra safety on leaving the car at your destination. As for adverse weather conditions, front fog lights are available to improve your vision and make journeys a lot safer.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)

ESP detects sudden changes in steering and braking, helping to prevent loss of direction and control of the vehicle. It reacts automatically when needed, applying the necessary power and braking adjustments to individual wheels, which helps reduce stopping distances in an emergency.
