Audio systems

Mondeo has a range of audio options that add a new dimension to your in-car music experience. For example, you can choose the high-performance Sony DAB CD/Radio System . There’s also MP3 playback capability , as well as an external AUX jack and a USB port for plugging in and controlling your MP3 player.

Bluetooth®* with Voice Control – standard on all Mondeo

Now you can choose to safely make handsfree calls on the move from your mobile by using Voice Control technology. This system lets you control a Bluetooth®*-compatible mobile, as well as the car’s audio, Touchscreen navigation system (option) and climate control systems.

Personal rear seat entertainment

Choose the Titanium model and you can add a premium in-car entertainment system for rear seat passengers. It provides a built-in DVD with two independently-operated 7" LCD screens in the back of the headrests, plus remote control and two wireless headphones. Entertainment technology that means your most demanding passengers can enjoy their own personal space with movies, music or gaming (additional connecting cable not supplied).

Touchscreen Navigation System

The ideal satellite navigation solution for easy route planning, the high-definition, touch-screen 7" display makes it easier to operate and master the controls. Easily updated via SD memory card, you can specify whether you prefer to take the shortest, fastest or most eco-friendly route. And being an integrated system, it responds to real-time road speed and the latest traffic conditions to deliver more accurate estimated arrival times and trip information. There are also dedicated connections for your iPod® and MP3 player operated from steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

Auto High Beam

Switches the headlights from high beam to low beam as soon as the system detects oncoming traffic or a pre-defined lighting level. Conversely, it detects the road is clear before automatically switching back to high beam. (included as part of the optional Driver Assistance packs).

Rear-view camera

Select reverse and the rear-view camera comes on automatically in the Touchscreen navigation PLUS system's display, allowing you to see objects behind your car for safer and easier manoeuvring. Special guidance graphics indicate the distance, width and centre line of the car, based on the steering angle. (Included within Touchscreen Navigation PLUS System).

Adjustable Speed Limiter

This new system integrates with cruise control, working with simplicity to keep you within your pre-determined speed limit. An ergonomically placed switch on the steering wheel lets you adjust your top speed limit and provides peace of mind you will not exceed this – particularly useful when travelling in speed camera areas. The system can be deliberately deactivated by cancelling the function or sharply depressing the accelerator pedal should the need arise.

Blind Spot Information System

This clever visual alert is designed to make long journeys a more relaxing experience. As another vehicle enters the blind spot area on either side of your Mondeo, the radar system alerts you with a discreet warning lamp in the corresponding door mirror. (Option) 

Lane Departure Warning

Using an ingenious forward-facing camera this tactile and visual alert triggers when the driver changes lanes without indicating. Three short vibrations are sent through the steering wheel, while a warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster. (Option as part of Driver Assistance Packs).

Driver Alert

Continuously analyses the driver's level of vigilance by assessing direction of travel and vehicle behaviour. When the system calculates the driver's attention falls below a certain level, it will display a 'take a break' message in the instrument cluster. If it detects a more sudden loss of attention, such as drifting across a lane, a warning chime and additional visual alerts warn the driver (Option as part of Driver Assistance Packs).

Rain-sensing wipers

With six levels of sensitivity, autowipers on the Mondeo spring into action at the first drop of rain, increasing in speed to deal with whatever the weather may throw at you. Aside from the added convenience, it’s one less thing to think about.

You'll enjoy the feeling of reassurance when driving the new Mondeo, thanks to a comprehensive list of active and passive safety features working behind the scenes. For example, the collapsible steering column will mitigate injuries to the driver. Clever technology prevents you from rolling backwards during hill starts and the next generation Adaptive Cruise Control will help you maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Just a few examples of how painstakingly Mondeo has been designed with you and your family’s safety uppermost in mind.

Active safety features

Active safety features help provide the safest possible environment for you and your passengers. These features include an anti-lock braking system (ABS) to help prevent skidding with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) for more stable braking.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Traction Assist (TA) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)

Demonstrating our commitment to safety, these features are fitted as standard across the Mondeo series. ESP with TA monitors the rotation of the wheels, as well as the steering wheel angle, yaw angle and sideways movement. If the sensors detect either the front or rear tyres slipping, the onboard computer modifies the engine power and applies the brakes to individual wheels. This provides an enhanced traction control function by reducing engine torque if the wheels spin when you accelerate. Your ability to pull away on slippery roads or loose surfaces is therefore improved with added benefits to your driving safety.

EBA ensures full braking force is available whenever necessary, helping reduce stopping distances in an emergency. And, should you need to brake heavily, the Emergency Brake Warning repeatedly flashes the rear brake lights to alert other drivers.

Park Assist

There are front and rear sensors that make parking and manoeuvring both safer and easier. An audible warning helps you judge the distance between your car and any obstacle behind or in front of you, so you have complete confidence and peace of mind, particularly in tight spaces. (Option; Standard on Titanium X).

Hill Start Assist (HSA)

HSA prevents you from rolling backwards when making a hill start. After releasing the brake pedal when stationary, the technology keeps the wheels braked, assisting the driver to move away safely.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

TMPS with individual wheel sensors continually checks the tyre pressure, providing accurate pressure data, and alerts you before any loss of pressure becomes an issue.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Alert (FA)

With ACC you can automatically keep your chosen distance from the car in front. Should the car in front slow down and reduce the gap, your speed drops, too. And when traffic speeds up, you automatically return to cruising speed. Meanwhile, FA monitors your distance to the vehicle in front and if you drive too close, a warning noise and flashing light activate.

Intelligent Protection System (IPS)

When the Mondeo earns the maximum 5-star Euro NCAP rating for adult occupant safety, you know this is a car that takes safety seriously. With the latest in driver and occupant protection technologies featuring in all Mondeo models, the key element in our passive safety package is the IPS. This includes the following advanced systems, ready to spring into action in a fraction of a second: Airbags for overall protection, 3-point seat belts with pre-tensioners and retractors, Height-adjustable mounts on front seat belts, Seat belt reminder system, An advanced collapsible steering column and retracting pedals that collapse away from the driver to reduce injury in case of impact, Advanced Neck Injury Protection System to help the front passenger avoid whiplash, A rigid steel safety cage that works with side impact door beams to minimise the impact of a collision, Passenger airbag deactivation switch – Dealer fitted, ISOFIX child seat* attachments on outer two seats in the second row, Automatic hazard warning – automatically activated in the event of an accident.
