Beautifully designed, remarkably efficient, more than capable.
Available with Ford’s latest Plug-in Hybrid electric technology, for a cleaner, quieter, more sophisticated approach to SUV driving.
With a host of clever assistance technologies, and design features to compliment an active lifestyle, Ford Kuga is equally at home exploring rolling landscapes or seeking adventure from your city commute.
Wherever the destination, the Ford Kuga Plug-in Hybrid uses two sources of power to get you there more efficiently. An advanced electric powertrain lets you make shorter trips of up to 35miles on zero emissions*, and can recharge anywhere you have access to mains power. For longer journeys, the conventional combustion engine ensures you can go as far as you need to, using powersplit technology to help recharge the Hybrid battery as you drive. While energy captured through regeberative braking also helps to extend your electric range even further.
With a number of Hybrid versions available, Ford Kuga offers newer, cleaner, and more economical ways to enjoy SUV driving.
Kuga’s advanced Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) technology combines a battery-powered electric motor with a 2.5-litre Duratec petrol engine. The hybrid battery can be recharged at home or public charging stations. Energy recaptured while braking also helps charge the battery as you drive. Fully charged, the Kuga PHEV can drive up to 35 miles†† on electric power alone, and a total hybrid driving range of up to 465 miles.
Kuga’s EcoBlue Hybrid incorporates an electric motor with a 48-volt battery. The mild hybrid system recaptures energy usually lost when braking, then uses the energy to provide additional power to the 2.0-litre diesel engine. This helps to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy.
Available from late 2020, the self-charging Kuga Hybrid combines a highly efficient 2.5-litre Duratec engine with a battery-powered electric motor. As with the EcoBlue Hybrid, the system recaptures energy usually lost while decelerating. But the larger battery can store more power to further improve fuel economy and even drive short distances on electric power alone.
Ford Kuga is available with a choice of 1.5 and 2.0 litre EcoBlue engines, incorporating the latest diesel technology to improve power, torque and economy, whilst reducing emissions. The engines deliver an impressive 120 PS or 190 PS of power respectively. And depending on which you choose, you’ll also have the option of a manual or advanced automatic transmission.
The 1.5-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine uses a combination of direct fuel injection and turbo-charging, along with cylinder deactivation technology, to deliver outstanding power with remarkable efficiency. Available in a choice of 120 PS or 150 PS options, you’ll enjoy all the uncompromised performance you’d expect from a conventional 1.5-litre engine, but with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.
Kuga’s 6-speed manual gearbox has a high torque capacity and delivers smooth, swift and accurate gear-changes. To help optimise fuel efficiency, the shift indicator light within the instrument panel tells you when to change gear.
For models with automatic transmission, Kuga’s Rotary Gear Shift Dial gives you complete control of the advanced 8-speed gearbox – allowing you to seamlessly select gears with the simple twist of the dial. While replacing the conventional gear leaver frees up additional space for a cleaner, more refined interior design.
Smooth city streets, or rocky off-road terrain: wherever you’re driving, Kuga is built to maximise control. Select between: Normal, Sport, Wet/Slippery, or for maximum efficiency, the Eco mode. Key information is displayed via Kuga’s 12.3” digital instrument cluster, which changes between unique colour themes according to which drive mode you have selected.

It can even bring you to a complete stop in heavy traffic. Once the road in front is clear, the system automatically accelerates back up to your chosen speed – making it ideal for negotiating the crowded stop-start driving of urban environments. Add with Kuga’s Lane Keeping System helping to prevent unintentional lane departures and keep you smoothly centered on motorways, those long journeys become even more enjoyable.

Kuga’s Full LED Quad Projector Headlamps provide outstanding illumination in a variety of conditions. These eye-catching LED headlights use camera technology to monitor the road ahead and alter the light patterns accordingly.
Predictive curve light uses lane-markers to detect and illuminate bends in the road before you enter them. Sign-based light recognises if you approach a roundabout or stop sign and adapts the headlight beam to match the road layout. Glare-free high beam adjusts the headlight angle for maximum illumination. While the front camera helps the system to protect other drivers from glare.
Parking in a busy street or a tight space can be tricky. But with Active Park Assist 2, the Ford Kuga makes it easier to park. Available on models with automatic transmission, the system can identify a suitable parking space, and then automatically perform the entire parking and exit manoeuvres for you. Activated with a simple push of a button, there’s no need for you to steer or use the pedals either – the car takes care of it all for you.
Wrong Way Alert uses a forward-facing camera and information from the navigation system to detect if you’re driving against the direction of traffic. The system delivers visual and audible warnings if you drive the wrong way so that you can stop and take the necessary action.
