Seamlessly connected with SYNC 3
SYNC 3 is our most advanced version to date. It’s faster and easier to use, with enhanced voice commands and even more functionality. The new interface has larger buttons for improved usability, and the 8” Touchscreen now features pinch-and-swipe gestures found on smartphones and tablets for even more intuitive navigation. SYNC 3 also features AppLink, Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto, to display your smartphone’s information on the touchscreen. (Optional on Zetec).
Please note: Full SYNC 3 smartphone integration is only available with iPhone 5/Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher. Some SYNC 3 functions require a data connection, so mobile data charges will apply. To check whether Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available in your market, please check official Apple CarPlay and Android Auto websites for the latest information.
Operating System and interface are subject to ongoing updates. Image may not be illustrative of final UK launch specification.
Safer City Driving
Accidents in stop-start or slow moving traffic happen all too frequently (particularly in busy city streets). Active City Stop is designed to help you reduce the impact of them and, in some cases, avoid them completely. If the system detects the car in front slows down unexpectedly, and you’re travelling at a speed of under 30mph, it automatically applies the brakes. (Optional Feature)
Smarter than average All-Wheel Drive
The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system constantly monitors driving conditions. As it does so, it determines how much grip, cornering, balance and responsiveness is needed and fine-tunes itself. Whether wet, dry or icy, the system will send extra power to the front or rear axle as and when needed, ensuring exceptional handling at all times. At low speeds, the system improves traction. For instance, if the front wheels are on ice and the rear ones aren’t, extra torque will be sent to the rear where it’s needed. And because the system only activates when needed, it saves fuel in less challenging conditions.
Paddle-shift gear changes straight from the racetrack
This race-inspired technology puts swift, effortless gear changes at your fingertips. Paddle Shift Controls are standard with both the Kuga’s automatic transmissions, so you can manually change gear for a more engaging drive. And because the paddle controls are mounted on the steering wheel, you can change gear more efficiently when cornering.
Help when reversing out
Cross Traffic Alert is a brand new technology that helps reduce the guesswork and worry when reversing out of a space. It detects oncoming vehicles and, if something’s approaching, it will sound a warning and illuminate a light in the corresponding wing mirror. (Optional Feature)
Since its launch, Ford’s hands-free tailgate has proved a resounding success - especially with those who lead active lives. If your hands are full, but you have your KeyFree fob on you, then you need only wave your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate will open automatically as it senses your presence. You can also operate the tailgate with buttons inside the Kuga.
The latest Ford technologies and sophisticated body engineering help drivers see more clearly and enhance safety on the road for new Kuga occupants and other road users.
Adaptive Front Lighting System
Ford’s Adaptive Front Lighting System is available for the first time on Kuga. The system monitors ambient light conditions and automatically optimises visibility by adjusting the beam angle of the new bi‑xenon headlights to one of seven settings depending on the vehicle’s speed, steering angle and distance to an object in front.
The Adaptive Front Lighting System features a Weather-Dependent Lighting mode that automatically adjusts headlights to help drivers spot roadside hazards in extreme heavy rain. After detecting a downpour, the system shortens and widens the headlight beam to better illuminate the side of the road and reduce glare for other drivers from flooded roads. The new Kuga’s sculpted bonnet features a wider, uninterrupted central dome that not only serves to complement Kuga’s sporty new looks, but also incorporates a structural design that more closely controls deformability and flexibility of the bonnet, improving pedestrian protection in an accident. The bonnet and rear liftgate also have been re-engineered to help mitigate damage to more expensive-to-replace components following a collision.
New Kuga also offers advanced Ford technologies, including:
