As a Car & Light Commercial Apprentice Technician, you’ll train using the latest Ford diagnostic technology, gaining the skills needed to keep pace with the fast-moving world of modern vehicles, including electric and hybrid technology.

No two days are the same, and you’ll be learning from experienced technicians in a busy, professional workshop environment.

What you’ll be doing:

Your role will be varied, practical and hands-on, including:

• Servicing vehicles to manufacturer standards
• Carrying out MOTs and general vehicle maintenance
• Replacing worn components
• Diagnosing faults and supporting repair work

Observing and assisting qualified technicians as your skills and confidence grow.

Your training will cover all key areas of a technician’s role:

• Servicing: ensuring vehicles perform at their best
• Maintenance: preventing issues before they occur
• Repair: identifying faults and fixing them properly

Your training programme

You’ll complete the Level 3 Light Vehicle Apprenticeship, a bespoke programme designed to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to become a fully qualified Ford Service Technician.

Over approximately 3 years, your training will include:

• On-site workplace visits from specialist Skills Coaches
• Virtual classroom masterclasses
• College block release training
• One-to-one mentoring and workplace coaching
• Online learning and ongoing support

You’ll also gain:

• Specialist Electric Vehicle training up to Level 3
• 15 days of Ford-developed technical training modules, supporting Ford-specific systems and technology

Your progress will be supported through structured mentoring, regular reviews and a digital learning portfolio to ensure you stay on track throughout the programme.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3GCSEs (or equivalent)
• Grades 9–3 (A–D)* in English and Maths required

Hours

• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Saturdays on a rota basis
